The social and economic portrait of the population through the prism of the quality of life: according to the results of a sociological survey in the Republic of Tatarstan

The article presents the results of the authors’ sociological research conducted in 2016 in the Republic of Tatarstan, which demonstrate the population’s assessment of its ability to eat, dress, spend leisure time, and relax during the holiday. The paper describes the housing conditions of the respondents in detail, examines the circumstances that makes the life of families difficult and serve as an obstacle to improving their quality of life in whole. Besides, it analyzes the types of paid services that respondents and their family members have used during the last three years. A list of the food basket that is subject to savings is drawn up as well. Moreover, the study provides the respondents’ assessment of their forces and capabilities, as well as the influence of external circumstances on the ability to update their wardrobe, improve their housing conditions. Based on the data obtained according to various parameters of the quality of life, the social and economic portrait of the population is built.
