The article contains an overview of approaches to the study of internal migration of the working-age population and the identification of factors that determine the migration process. Approaches to modeling the assessment of the dysfunctional consequences of migration of teachers for the region, assessing the role of factors determining a teacher’s decision to migrate are presented. Within the framework of testing the model, an analysis of the consequences of migration for Moscow and ten regions located in its immediate vicinity was carried out. Analysis of the data demonstrates centripetal migration flows of teachers and shows negative consequences of this process for the regions. In this research, some models of analyzing the situation with the professional migration of teachers in the indicated territories were applied. The considered model of the regional level made it possible to monitor the consequences of migration processes for the education system. Models for assessing the factors of teacher migration provided the identification of the main provoking circumstances that contribute to the intensification of regional migration and identified the directions of the managerial impact on migration flows in the region.
