Social and economic department of Samara University in 1920-1921 and formation of economic education in Samara

The article deals with the formation of the Social and Economic Department at the Social and Historical faculty of Samara University in 1920-1921 and its impact on the history of higher economic education in Samara. On the basis of archival documents, the author reconstructs process of folding the Economic Seminary, the institutional frames of its organization, the features of the curriculum of the Social and Economic Department, and its teaching staff. The study allowed to reveal the role of N.V. Pervushin, G.I. Baskin, I.V. Dolgikh and I.M. Greenstein in the origin of teaching economics at the higher school of Samara. Newly identified archival sources give evidence of an attempt to introduce teaching of economic sociology in Samara; it was one of the first such attempts in the history of university education in Russia.
