Social-economic development of the peripheral territory: geographical aspect

The problems of peripheral territories are examined on example of Okinskii county of the Republic of Buryatia in the article. In particular such specific characteristics are described as poorly studied, remoteness, richness with minerals, distinguished territory of traditional settlements of non-numerous indigenous peoples, poorly developed social and cultural infrastructure, and as a result - low educational level of local population.
