Social and economic development of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus since the attainment of independence

The article analyzes the results of economic development of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus since the collapse of the Soviet Union, discusses the current level of production and the structure of the economy of the two countries. The author also conducts a comparative study of the quality of life of the Russian and Belarusian populations in 1990 and 2012.
