The article deals with the problems of personal self-development of students in the context of scientific societies. The content of the work of the student scientific community, promoting self-development of the individual, is revealed. Attention is paid to the phased work of research activities within the framework of the student scientific community, which, with purposeful and systematic work, becomes a powerful factor in socio-cultural education. Special attention should be paid to the results of experimental work in order to substantiate the organizational and pedagogical features of personal selfdevelopment of young people in the activities of student scientific societies, which allowed to determine the degree of inclusion of respondents in the activities of student scientific societies, as well as to identify current problems and promising directions of personal self-development of students and researchers. The comparative analysis and generalization of the experience of socio-cultural activities of student scientific societies in Russia and abroad, as well as a sociological survey, made it possible to identify the target orientation, organizational approaches, content areas and leading forms of leisure activities, which served as the basis for developing a model and program for personal self-development of young people in the activities of student scientific societies.
