The article carries out a retrospective analysis of social and educational support of deviant adolescents who are serving the sentence in the reform schools (colonies) for under-age offenders, which were operating in the late 19 th - the early 20 th centuries, by studying the experience of such educators as A.Y. Gerda and A.S. Makarenko. The author reveals the basic functions, methods and techniques of social and educational support used by the great educators.
