The article is devoted to complex, long-debated issues of socio-political characteristics of the Russian society of the ХIХ century. The authors believe the discussion is unfinished and offer their own, quite original point of view based on macrohistorical analysis. (In the absence of a truly conservative political theory and the lack of support from the independent Church of the Russian Imperial state was often vulnerable in the clash with activists of the revolutionary movement. Lowland and open borders, Russia have been both its strength and its weakness. Force because they provide people the opportunity to move to the East, with the result that our country, having mastered virtually the entire expanse of Northern Asia, took one-sixth of the earth's surface. Weakness because due to the open territory of Russia was more vulnerable to attack from the East, South and especially in the last century, from the West. In connection with this fact all our Russian government declared the protection of the territory as a top priority, our leaders in the preservation of sovereignty found upright, full and continued support. The weakness of the bourgeoisie, or rather, over-the merging of the capital with the monarchical state (the king himself to receive individual benefits) has led Russian society to an ever-dominant role of the monarch. Thus, the entire path of development of sociopolitical relations in Russia in the second half of the ХIХ century and early twentieth century, showed a distinct lack of intermediate institutions between official state structures and of society itself – the people.
