The research discussed the everyday life of the South Ural teacher in the post-Soviet period of Russian history. Based on the memories of Chelyabinsk teachers who were the contemporaries of that era, the author attempted to examine the living circumstances of the ordinary school teachers, their working environment and daily routine. The study described a set of various factors (financial, gender, age) that transformed the views and everyday life of the Soviet teacher. In the context of this research, the author interviewed the educators being the contemporaries of the post-Soviet era that resulted in the decadency and further revival of the education system of such a key area of the Russian Federation as Chelyabinsk Region. It is noted that further research on the portrait of the post-Soviet teacher will be promising if more sources and multidisciplinary context are available.
