Social and psychological adaptation of students with disabilities to study at a university (on the example of Ulyanovsk state university)

The article deals the specifics of the social and psychological adaptation of students with disabilities to the conditions of the university. The materials present the indicators of testing the students with disabilities according to the personality questionnaire — diagnostics of social and psychological adaptation of Rogers-Diamond. The author discusses the results obtained according to the integral indicators of adaptation, joining others, self-perception, escapism. In comparison with the above indicators, the strategy of overcoming stressful situations among students with disabilities was analyzed according to the method of “determining the strategy for overcoming stressful situations” (S. Hobfall) in the Russian version of N. Vodopyanova, E. Starchenkova. The behavioral approach in this method made it possible to determine the differences in overcoming stressful situations between senior and first-year students. In the discussion of the results, it was revealed that students with disabilities are subject to a complex process of adaptation to the educational process, especially in the second year of study. The conclusions present ways to solve the existing problems of social and psychological adaptation of students in the university.
