Social and psychological prevention of youth’s tendency to violent extremism in a university setting

The problem of the spread of violent extremism among young people is considered. The factors contributing to the development of extremist sentiments in young people are analyzed. The importance of an integrated approach to the prevention of violent extremism is emphasized. A program of social and psychological prevention is presented, aimed at reducing the influence of factors contributing to the development of a tendency to violent extremism in modern youth (aggression as a personality trait, dissatisfaction with life, intolerance, the use of maladaptive coping strategies in stressful situations, destructive basic beliefs, problems in understanding and accepting one's own and someone else's ethnic identity, preference for aggressive communication models). The effectiveness of the program was tested in an empirical study. A significant decrease in the overall indicators of a tendency to violent extremism in the experimental group was observed.
