Social aspects of public spaces of Soviet and post-Soviet cities

This article considers main aspects of public city spaces in soviet and post-soviet reality within social interaction on the basis of their principle differences. Some particularities of urban environment influence person’s identity, their interaction with environment and other individuals are summed up. It raises a problem of aloofness in conditions of urban way of modern person life, her individualization and pursuit of solitude not only in home environment, but in public spaces.
