Obstructing the medical care: social background

Introduction: the article deals with the features of the criminalization of acts related to the obstructing the medical assistance in the Russian Federation. Materials and Methods: the study was based on current Russian criminal legislation, official data of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and media. The methodological basis of the research was dialectical method of cognition of social phenomena, as well as analysis, the formal method, statistical and logic-legal methods. Results: the social situation resulting from attacks on medical workers and obstruction of their activities which led to the introduction of amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was studied. Discussion and Conclusions: the need for a special article protecting life and health of a patient by prohibiting obstruction of medical activity was justified.
