The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of social media in disseminating knowledge about ecology and increasing public awareness of environmental problems. In the face of global environmental challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, social media is becoming an important tool for activists, scientists and educational institutions. Purpose of the article: analysis of the influence of social media on environmental education and environmental protection. The article examines how social networks help raise awareness of environmental issues, mobilize the public and support environmental initiatives. It also looks at various platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, that allow you to quickly share breaking news, educational content and inspiring examples of activism. Particular attention is paid to effective content formats that attract the attention of young people, including videos, infographics and viral campaigns. It also examines the challenges users face in finding reliable information, including the problem of misinformation and content overload. The article also emphasizes the importance of developing critical thinking among users to adequately evaluate information related to environmental protection. The need to develop strategies to improve media literacy so that users can effectively distinguish between reliable sources of information and avoid misinformation that may hinder effective environmental action is emphasized. In conclusion, the successful use of social media for environmental education is possible through a thoughtful approach that combines creative content with active engagement methods, thereby supporting environmental awareness and action. The authors conclude that social media has the potential to make a significant contribution to environmental education if its capabilities are used responsibly and purposefully. Hypotheses put forward in this context may be that the use of social networks increases the level of environmental awareness among users, that active participation in environmental groups and communities on social networks leads to increased motivation of users to participate in environmental initiatives. It is recommended to emphasize the need to create strategies focused on user engagement. This may include developing content that not only informs, but also inspires action and encourages participation in various initiatives, such as environmental challenges or volunteer projects. It's important that the content is not only educational, but also emotional, since research shows that an emotional connection to a topic helps to better remember information and promotes behavioral changes. It is also worth recommending the use of metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns. Analyzing reach, engagement and audience feedback will improve future strategies and improve the quality of communications. This could form the basis for further research aimed at exploring the relationship between digital practices and actual environmental behavior.
