In the fall of 2024, the Department of Economic Theory and Applied Sociology of Ural State University of Economics conducted a sociological study to identify social stereotypes among Russian students (n = 352). The sample reflects the general population of full-time students of the university, which indicates the representativeness of the data obtained. According to the results of the study, we found that our students are focused on European and North American nations and cultures - which indicates a socio-cultural closeness with the same collective West, despite the complex geopolitical relations between Russia and Western countries. Students are least focused on post-Soviet, Asian and African countries in terms of cultural exchange, but are interested in the cultures of Asian countries (for example, China, Japan, Korea, etc.). In general, interethnic and intercultural dialogue is built on a certain neutrality and deliberate construction of guarantees of safe coexistence. Russian students are ready to help foreign students in learning the language and culture, but at the same time point out the need for foreign students themselves and their states to show diligence and hard work.
