Social portrait of female members of Irish Parliament: On the way to gender parity?

Based on the data on women deputies of the lower house of the Irish parliament, the main trajectories of women's entry into national politics, the factors that ensure women’s electoral success are identified, as well as a socio-demographic portrait of women parliamentarians is given. It is argued that female parliamentarians mainly use the party path of advancement in politics, they are closely related to local politics, have a high level of education, and most of them got into the parliament after the law on gender quotas has been adopted in Ireland.
