Social theater: the preconditions of the phenomenon, the technology of realization and its stages, forms of embodiment

In this article the phenomenon of social theater is considered as one of the actual directions of the domestic and foreign theatrical process. The prerequisites of modern social theater are found in the late XIX - early XX century, during the development of the revolutionary labor movement, on the one hand, and the medical practice of psychotherapy, on the other. Owing its popularity to a “social turn” in the culture of the last decades of the 20th century, the social theater implements in its activity such tasks as: creating a safe leisure space for people, especially for adolescents, where they could stage theatrical performances under the guidance of a more experienced person; attracting spectators to the solution of social problems; propagating the ideas of a healthy lifestyle while at the same time preventing negative manifestations; developing the ability to adapt in a complex life situation, modeling one's behavior with due regard to the realization of one's creative abilities to perform several basic functions: educating, socializing, enlightening. Summarizing all the constituents of social theater, we can get the following formula: copresence + coparticipation + introspection + sincerity = social changes.
