The article discusses the main features of the Russian revolution of 1917 as a reflection of the crisis of Russian culture. The author believes that the spiritual and cultural causes that led Russia to the revolution of 1917 were unique and purely Russian. The Russian revolution as a radical breakdown of the traditional way of life and cultural tradition became possible only because of living the traditional foundations of the everyday life of people, shaken by nihilism, which was first captured by the intelligentsia, and then by the other people. The article substantiates that the tragic experience of the Russian revolution of 1917 showed the need for a thorough understanding by all political, social and cultural forces of the country of the lessons of these historical events. The most important of them is the necessity to cherish national historical memory, to value the spiritual culture of the people, strengthen the moral foundations of society, not allowing religious schisms and disasters.
