The paper discusses a sociological constitutive paradox of English Canadian ethno-cultural identity. Ethno-cultural identity is defined as an integrity which being decomposed into individual components ceases existing as a higher level phenomenon. The constitutive paradox means a lack of the hierarchical relations among identities, so each one is both a context and a contextual content for another one.
