The article dwells upon the concept of innovation as a complex phenomenon in the aspect of sociology. The author observes a number of definitions of the innovation phenomenon, researches its lexical and semantic conceptual substitution along with an involuntary displacement between the connotative meaning and the process of innovation. The author emphasizes practical significance of the innovations’ implementation in the system of organizational management.
