In article both daily social practicians of consumption of food, and production, distribution and exchange of food are considered. Comparative approach is applied in the analysis of traditional and modern power supply systems and flavoring feelings. Introduction defines food sociology, his subject and the main characteristics. Further, food is considered from the point of view of the theory of social system. Shift of modern food system towards public space of consumption is shown. Food is characterized from the point of view of consumption of food by various social classes depending on the economic and cultural capital.
