The article is concerned with a competence approach, professional competence of specialists, focused on the cognitive development of 5-7 years old children. It describes structure of the educational competencies of a teacher, prepared for implementation of the continuous links in the cognitive development of the 5-7 years old children. Special attention is paid to description of the teachers’ competences, providing the following: efficient information communication with children, professional activities in the conditions of continuity of preschool and primary school education, cognitive development of the preschoolers and primary schoolchildren.
