Sokolskaya gymnastics in the system of physical education of medical students

In the XIX century, a variety of pedagogical systems were developing in many countries of the world, which were based on new ideas and methods for the development of physical education of young people. The Sokolsky system of physical education has become widespread in the Russian Empire. It becomes one of the means of physical education in educational institutions and in the army, as well as in scout squads, sports societies and mass sports and gymnastics movement. This paper reveals the historical continuity of Sokolsky gymnastics in the system of physical education of students of higher educational institutions of modernity. The article presents the goals and objectives of physical education, as well as provides various types of physical exercises currently used to promote health and achieve athletic results among students. The experience gained by the Sokolsky movement has provided invaluable assistance in organizing the modern youth movement. Currently, many modern military - patriotic clubs are trying to revive the Sokolsky gymnastic system as a national type of moral and patriotic education of young people.
