Shortened words indicating party affiliation in American print media

Nowadays, in many European languages, including English, there is an increase in the use of various kinds of abbreviated lexical units. The article examines issues related to the use of abbreviated words indicating party affiliation in American newspapers and magazines. The study identifies types of abbreviations for this lexical group, determines the most productive of them and the features of their use. It also clarifies the derivative form from the lexeme GOP. The following methods were used during the study: semantic analysis, contextual analysis, component analysis and elements of quantitative analysis.
