The article presents the theoretical foundation, key elements of research design and some results of cognitive mapping of information flows of a solidarizing and de-solidarizing orientation in the Russian segment of social media. As a result of the study, the following was revealed: 1) information flows aimed at de-solidarization exploit still unresolved problems of social deprivation of some vulnerable communities, form in their minds the conviction that the authorities are responsible for their social situation, and create an attitude towards the perception of government officials as opponents of ordinary citizens, which serves as a factor of social division; 2) in information flows of solidarity there is quite a significant potential for strengthening the basic foundations for intensification of social unity and harmony; even more noticeable promotion of the values of sovereignty, positive national-state identity and value consensus is required in the flows of the Russian segment of social media.
