Solovetsky camps and Kola Peninsula industry in 1920s - beginning of 1930s

The article is concerned with the use of the convict labor in Solovetsky camps in the process of Kola Peninsular development. The basic branches of the industries in which prisoners were involved are named. The living conditions, the character and job content, measures of coercion and stimulation of the convict labor are analysed. Special attention is given to the development of the “contracted specialists” industry. The specialists of the “contracted” industry were deprived of liberty.
