Report II presents a review of the literature on suicidal behavior (SB) of patients with certain somatic diseases. It was shown that co-morbidly ill patients with SB were more socially maladjusted. Somatic suffering makes the patient more vulnerable to micro-social conflicts, often associated with a sense of burden, loneliness and pain, reducing the threshold of fear of death. In cancer, the risk of suicide is 2-4 times higher compared to the general population. In Western Europe and the United States, 0.2-0.5% of deaths of cancer patients are caused by suicide.
