Somatoform disorder: historical aspect and state-of-the-art of the problem in modern conditions (literature review)

Somatoform disorder is associated with psychosocial factors. Many patients with this disorder are treated for longperiods of time without results in primary health care with complaints of unexplained clinical symptoms. Purpose: tostudy the current state of the problem of somatoform disorders based on the materials of domestic and foreign literature. This literature review examines the main conceptual approaches to the problem of somatoform disorder, including those proposed in the modern classification guidelines ICD-11 and DSM-5. The well-known diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties that arise when working with the category of patients with SFR are discussed. Particular attentionis devoted to the mechanisms of the formation of somatoform disorders, the role of somatization, conversion andalexithymia in the development of the disease is highlighted. The main therapeutic methods applied to patients withSFR have been analyzed from the standpoint of both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
