Womans’ dream and its frame in Goncharov’s ”The Precipice”

The article discusses some of the poetic function of dreams in Goncharov’s novel “The Precipice”. Literary dreams in the novel are closely interconnected with the fate of characters and creative quest of artist Raisky. Vera and Marphinka actively respond to the events that happen to them in the conventional reality of the novel in their dreams. The metaphors of the poetic language of the novel are scheduled in retelling of the dreams. Therefore their deployment is not feasible without the context of the whole novel. The subject of our analysis is that that proportion of parts and whole.
