Relationship of categories "national" and "commonwealth " in art

In every work of art, the national and the universal are at the same time in contradiction and in organic unity. The national in art is a reflection of the peculiarities of the national culture, the character of the people, their mentality. Universal is the essence of artistic creativity, it is historically and nationally defined. The identity of the national vision influences the uniqueness of generally valid artistic information. The ratio of the universal to the national is the condition for the worldwide sound of the work of art.
