Comparative analysis of lie /heresy in the English and Avarian phraseological units

This article presents a comparative analysis of the concept of “lie” (represented by the Avar term “гьереси” and its English equivalent) as reflected in English and Avar phraseological units. By examining proverbs, idioms, and other fixed expressions, the study explores the cultural and linguistic nuances associated with deception in both cultures. The analysis reveals similarities and differences in the ways each language conceptualizes lying, the associated moral judgments, and the social consequences attributed to dishonesty. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the cross-cultural perceptions of truthfulness and the role of language in shaping moral values.
