Social changes affecting modern society should have influenced the emergence of new areas of gender research in linguistics. Within the framework of this research methodology, the article examines linguistic issues related to understanding the social status of men and women and their role in the life of modern society, by comparing Russian, English and Kyrgyz mentality and self-awareness. The subject of the study is the specificity and ways of expressing the linguistic and cultural concepts of “man” and “woman” in the system of languages under study. The authors use linguistic and etymological methods to decipher the main provisions and concepts of traditional gender relations of the English, Russian and Kyrgyz peoples in the linguocultural aspect.
