Comparison of potentials of scintigraphy with 199Ti-chloride and 99mTc-MIBI in indication and differential diagnosis of neoplastic and inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system

Potentials of scintigraphy with 199TI-chloride and 99mTc-MIBI in indication and differential diagnosis of neoplastic and inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system were comparatively studied. Radionuclide studies were carried out in 117 patients having 149 localizations of neoplastic (n=80) and inflammatory (n=69) processes. Scintigraphy with both 199TI-chloride and 99mTc-MIBI has high sensitivity of non-specific indication of inflammatory processes (92,3 % and 95,4 %) and neoplasms of the musculoskeletal system (98,0 % and 100,0 %, respectively). Scintigraphy with 199TI-chloride in comparison with 99mTc-MIBI can be used for differential diagnosis of inflammatory and neoplastic processes of the musculoskeletal system by considering qualitative and quantitative scintigraphy parameters. Sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for detecting inflammation were: 89,5 %, 85,7 % and 87,1 %, and for detecting neoplasms: 79,6 %, 98,1 % and 89,1 %, respectively.
