Juxtaposition of dental arches with Izard - Berger ellipsoid and its graphical modification

A study of 18 patients with physiological occlusion was conducted. When measuring the head, the distance between the zygion points (zy-zy) and the tragional-nasal distance (t-sn) was determined, which served as landmarks for the construction of the Izard Berger ellipse. Biometric analysis of plaster models included odontometry of 14 teeth, measurement of molar and canine width, molar-incisor and canine-incisor diagonal. As a result with the Izard-Berger diagram, a discrepancy between the sagittal and transversal dimensions of the ellipsoid was found. The true width of the dental arches was less than the short diameter of the geometric figure on average in the group by (7,29 ± 1,56) mm. Modification of the Izard-Berger method consisted in the construction of an ellipse, the diameter of which was the molar width calculated from the face and the diagonal of the dental arch.
