In the conditions of the Tambov region, the duration of a period from emergence to physiological maturity should be not more than 80 days. The late genotypes (varieties and hybrids) are characterized by a direct correlation between the yield value and the autumn weather conditions. A short frost-free period (145 days), the early onset of autumn coldness, often accompanied by prolonged rains do not allow growing more productive sunflower varieties and hybrids with a vegetative period of 120-130 days. In 2015, the breeders of the Tambov research institute submitted a promising sunflower variety Chakinsky 100 to the State Variety Commission for further trials. The vegetative period of a sunflower variety Chakinsky 100 is 88-93 days. In the nursery of the comparative trial over the years of research, the seed and oil yield rates of Chakinsky 100 has exceeded the control (the variety Yenisey) by an average of 5.5 quintal per ha and 317 kg per ha, respectively. Since 2018, the sunflower variety Chakinsky 100 is included in the State Register of Selection Achievements and approved for cultivation in the Central Black Earth (5) and Middle Volga (7) regions.
