Platonych is new highly productive early maturing sunflower variety of oil type. It was developed in the laboratory of sunflower OP varieties breeding of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops in 2008-2015. It was developed from an oil variety Berezansky by a method of multiple individual selections with progeny estimation and re-pollination of families being the best by productivity, morphometric traits and resistance to downy mildew. The new variety is uniformed by the pants height, flowering and maturing. It ripens by 2-3 days earlier the variety Berezansky and is lower by 6-7 cm. A period from emergence to physiological maturity is 86-88 days. A head is of middle size, slowly convex, slim, quickly drying on a stem, seeds are filled. The variety Platonych is differed with high oil content (54.0-55.0%) and resistance to a complex of downy mildew races and broomrape. It is included into the State register of breeding achievements permitted for production from 2019 in the Central Chernozem, Northern Caucasus, Middle and Low Volga regions. The originator is V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops.
