Sunflower ornamental varieties Aurelia and Fizalia of VNIIMK breeding

Бесплатный доступ

Breeding of ornamental sunflower in VNIIMK has led to the development of two varieties with an ornamental phenotype. The variety Aurelia was made within the development of the genetic collection of VNIIMK when crossing dwarf sample I5/303 with a decorative variety «Teddy bear», further self-pollination and individual selection for the morphotype, with further transfer of a fertile line to CMS RIG. The main decorative features of the variety Aurelia are: short stature, compact pyramidal habitus, large number of inflorescences, total branching, the location of the central head above the lateral ones, a long growing season. The main decorative features of the variety Fizalia are: short stature, compact cylindrical habitus, a large number of inflorescences, apical branching, the location of the central head on the same level with lateral ones, a long growing season. VNIIMK is the originator of decorative varieties of sunflower Aurelia and Fizalia submitted to the State Variety Commission in 2016.
