The state and problems of land use area in Saint Petersburg

The article deals with the problems of rational use of urban areas on the example of St. Petersburg as one of the largest cities in Russia. It is shown that for St. Petersburg, as well as for many other Russian cities, such problems as congestion of the territory of the city with the lands of industrial development, low efficiency of the use of urban areas, imperfection of the land (real estate) taxation system are characteristic. Directions of improvement of system of regulation of the land and property relations in the cities are offered.
