The aim of the article is a comprehensive study of the achievements of the railway complex of China and the trends of its further development. This article reveals the theoretical foundations and socio-economic nature of China's rail transport. The analysis of the current state of the country's railway transport for 5 years (2015-2019) is carried out and the prospects for its development are identified. The methods of logical, comparative and statistical analysis were used in the research process.
