State of drug crime and features of criminological characteristics of a drug criminal personality

Law enforcement practice proves that without a comprehensive and detailed study of the criminal's personality, it is impossible to fight crime in a timely and effective manner. In recent years, new types and methods of drug crimes have appeared in Russia, and the criminal activity of criminals has increased. The authors, based on a comprehensive study of statistical data and scientific research, attempted to formulate the factors determining the formation of the personality of a drug offender, to identify the characteristic features of his personality. Special attention is paid to the analysis of socio-demographic and criminal-legal characteristics of the personality of a modern drug offender, a number of scientific approaches to the typologization of the personality of this group of criminals are considered. The article attempts to formulate the author's criminological "portrait" of a modern drug offender, which is essential for the development and preventive policy of the state in relation to persons potentially oriented to such deviant behavior. Some proposals have also been formulated to improve activities in the field of prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotic substances.
