On the state of general, professional, and higher education in the Volga-Vyatka region republics during the Great Patriotic War (1941—1945)

In the war time the authorities of the republics in the Volga-Vyatka region took all the possible measures to sustain the system of public education. After the departure of many teachers to the front there was a considerable quantitative and qualitative reduction of the staff. Essential changes were brought by the war to the content and methods of the scholars’ education and upbringing. The education conditions got worse, education financing was dranmatically cut down, but the educational process in its essence went on. During the war a great importance was given to the professional education of the youth and to the preparation of the specialists for the public economy.
