A comprehensive examination of 32 gastric cancer patients treated at the Mordovia Republic Cancer Center between 2010 and 2011 was carried out. For differentiation, the study included patients with chronic gastritis exacerbation and patients with gastric ulcer disease. Serum pepsinogen -1, -2 levels were determined by the method of hard-phase immunoenzyme analysis. Changes in gastric mucosa markers inversely correlated with the tumor stage were found. Low values of pepsinogen I/II ratio are indicative of the role of atrophic changes of the gastric mucosa in carcinogenesis.
