Cooperation of Karelian enterprises within twinning partnership project of 1970-80s

The issue of relations among management staff and workers of Karelian enterprises, Karelian cities’ organizations and their counterparts within town twinning partnership in the 1970s-80s is studied in the article. The problem is researched for the first time. The research results are based on the materials of the National Archives of the Republic of Karelia (NA RK). The companies’ relationships were established in the framework of friendship treaties signed by the cities and towns of Karelia. The initiative of single employees and members of the management staff played a significant role in the development of the twin-city relations. By the end of the 1980s similar links had been established by around 10 enterprises and organizations of the Republic. The history of international cooperation development initiated by single enterprises is presented; the forms and directions of the personnel interaction are described; multiple examples of mutual experience employment are provided.
