The study analyzes existing workforce requirements in this sector and evaluates higher educational institutions that provide training in transportation planning, design, and management. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that, with the current low level of employment in the specialty, plans for the development of the country’s transport complex, the current number of higher educational institutions training engineers, designers and managers in the transport industry is in-sufficient. Since the problem goes beyond the educational aspect, the author offers recommendations aimed at ad-dressing this issue and improving personnel policies in the transportation sector as a whole.
