The article is devoted to the consideration of personnel policy in municipal authorities. The improvement of the management system, namely the municipal service, is one of the main conditions for the successful solution of the tasks facing society and the state. The personnel of the municipal service can directly influence the development of reforms taking place in the country, ensure the implementation of decisions aimed at modernizing the life of society. The head of the Ministry of Labor called the acute shortage of qualified personnel one of the main problems. The system of professional training of municipal employees has not fully developed and does not meet modern requirements. It is concluded that the main condition for solving the social problems of a municipality is the professionalism of municipal employees, which is why the importance of the main forms of verification, control and assessment of professional and personal qualities - certification has increased.
