The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. Improvement of teachers' professional skills is an important task of the state educational policy. Increasing the competitive advantages of Russian education on the world stage is associated with improving the professional skills of teachers. Therefore, the system of professional development of teachers needs to identify pedagogical mechanisms to assist them in this direction. The goal of the research is substantiation of approaches to definition of pedagogical mechanisms of assistance to improvement of professional skills of teachers of general education organizations. Methodology. The following methods were used in the research: study and analysis of regulatory documents in the field of educational public policy, analysis of scientific research on the problem, questionnaires of teachers of general educational organizations. Results. The survey of teachers of general education organizations showed that they are not sufficiently motivated to update their psychological, pedagogical and methodological knowledge to improve their professional skills...
