The article considers approaches to improving the personnel management system within the framework of increasing the competitiveness of the enterprise. It is established that the process of forming the competitiveness of the enterprise is significantly influenced by the personnel of the enterprise. It is proved that the modern direction of improving personnel management can be the consideration of the mechanism of interaction of organizational and methodological methods of personnel management in the process of improving the efficiency of enterprises. It was found out that improving the efficiency of employee management provides for the development of a set of measures combining priority methods of training and motivation and the goal of ensuring the maximum realization of the potential of managers to improve their management activities and the implementation of the employee management system at enterprises as a set of information and other resources in the field of communications and opportunities that ensure the readiness of enterprises to be successful. It is determined that the existing approach of managers to the organization of internal training makes it impossible to implement such principles of its implementation as continuity, commitment, effectiveness and limits the development of personnel role characteristics in the managed and managing subsystems. In addition, at the stage of recruitment and adaptation of personnel, the compliance of the future specialist with the philosophy and strategy of enterprises of various forms of ownership is not taken into account.
