The famous book by G. Kahn and A. Wiener «The Year 2000: A Framework for Speculation on the Next Thirty-three Years», published in 1968, is considered to be the foundation of Western futurology. The article shows that almost all the problems, which became the object and subject of research for the classics of futurist Western thoughts in the late 1960s and early 1970s, had been at least conceptually, and sometimes more consistently considered by such a genre of political thought as the Soviet science fiction at least a decade earlier, in the late 1950s - early 1960s.
