Intergenerational interaction, the essence of which is the transmission of spiritual experience from older generations to younger ones, is a prerequisite for the progressive development of mankind, the necessary basis on which society is reproduced, transformed and moves forward. Not surprisingly, any society is interested in the best practices for the transfer of spiritual and moral values for their successful adaptation by the younger generation. The article provides a comparative analysis of the Soviet and post-Soviet models of transmission and adaptation of spiritual experience by youth in order to identify the specifics of each model and evaluate their effectiveness. The analysis aims to answer the question of whether the experience of intergenerational spiritual and moral interaction accumulated in Russian history can be used to determine the parameters of the optimal model for post-Soviet Russia. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the effectiveness of the adaptation of spiritual and moral experience by Russian youth directly depends on the historical circumstances experienced by the country.
