Soviet historiography of 1930-1980 on political repressions in the USSR in the 1920-1930s

The article deals with the history of the study of political repression in Soviet historical science. The researchers note that the first assessments of repressive policies were given by the direct organizers and inspirers of repressions. The article notes that during the reign of N. S. Khrushchev, there is a surge of interest in both society and historical science in the problem of repression. The authors come to the conclusion that in spite of the severe restrictions that were imposed on Soviet researchers their works acquire value as a historical source.
